John Seaman Garns
Teacher of Psychology and Divine Science
Dr. John Seaman Garns was founder and president of the school of Psychology and Divine Science in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from the Drake University of Oratory and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota, and later, honors from the Curry School of Expression, Boston.
Dr. Garns was for ten years head of the Public Speaking Department of the Extention Division of the University of Minnesota, and for four years in charge of the Dramatic and Public Speaking Departments at the MacPhail Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts.
In 1933 he received the Degree of Doctor of Divine Science from the Divine Science College of Denver, Colorado. On rare occasions he toured and lectured, but mostly concentrated on writing. He wrote a series of books on Psychology and Divine Science, the most widely-read being Prosperity Plus, published in 1938.
