David Seabury
American Psychologist, Writer, and Lecturer.
Dr. David Seabury (1885-1960), famed psychologist, spent his life striving to help individuals fulfill their responsibilities and discover how to get more out of living. Fortunately, he also wrote beautifully and left us several great books. He was the son of eminent New Thought pioneer Horatio W. Dresser but chose to use his mother's maiden name.
Throughout his colorful career as a spiritual psychologist Dr David Seabury's writings and lectures have had a profound impact on the American way of life. He consistently emphasizes the necessity of the individual recognizing his complex nature. Man is an emotional, mental, and spiritual being, and unless, and until he recognizes these three aspects of his nature and discovers how to have them harmonize with each other, difficulties will be encountered.
He founded the Centralist School of Psychology, was the founder and president of the David Seabury School of Psychology, and was president of the Seabury University of Adult Education.
The David Seabury School of Christian Psychology, Incorporated was established by David Seabury in Los Angeles, California. The school was active in the 1950s.
He also unofficially founded an unaccredited higher education institution in Los Angeles, California named Sequoia University in 1950. He served as both its President and also had an honorary PhD from Sequoia University. It officially changed its name from the College of Drugless Healing to Sequoia University on August 20, 1952, and became ratified on August 27, 1952 under Joseph Hough.
